Mark Merritt is emerging as a bright new personality in
sacred choral music. Mark primarily writes original compositions and hymn
arrangements for use in traditional worship. Some of his choral works include
handbells or orchestral accompaniments. Although Mark spends most of his time
now as a music publisher and composer, he has directed music for churches in
several denominations, including Baptist, Disciples of Christ, Episcopal,
Methodist and Presbyterian.
In addition to a degree in Sacred Music from LU, and
graduate study in Church Music at Southern Seminary, Mark is privileged to have
received private instruction in composition with the late Dr. Henry Hallstrom, who had been a student of renowned American
composers Randall Thompson and Howard Hansen.
Mark is available as a guest clinician/conductor and to
write commissioned pieces for your church, school or organization. For more
